Some projects are functional. Some are beautiful. This one is both. Add-A-Link Fence Company recently designed and installed this custom cedar arbor and gate in Little Silver, NJ — a handcrafted entry structure that immediately becomes the focal point of the entire property.

The arbor is built around a dual-arch design using laminated, segmented curved members and dowel purlin cross members — a level of joinery and craftsmanship that goes well beyond what you’ll find in a prefabricated kit. The full round arch carries a classic, almost storybook quality, while the clean cedar construction keeps it grounded and natural. Posts are set in concrete footings for a foundation that will hold this structure steady for decades.

The custom gate features a scalloped top profile that echoes the arch above it, creating a unified, intentional design from top to bottom. Reinforced internal framing prevents sagging over time — a critical detail on a gate this size — and heavy-duty black powder-coated hinges and latch hardware provide smooth, reliable operation while adding a sharp visual contrast to the warm cedar.

Framed cedar lattice panels flank both sides of the gate, adding structural rigidity and a beautiful design layer that also invites climbing plants and vines to grow in over time.

Every inch of this build is 100% cedar — the same material throughout, aging together gracefully. The result is a custom entry structure that looks like it was always meant to be there.
